Glacier Ridge Ultramarathon and Trail Race
The event is held at McDanel's Boat Launch in Moraine State Park near Portersville, PA. It offers multiple course options and uses out-and-back style routes that run along local sections of the North Country Trail system.
Distances available:
- 20 Mile Trail Run / Endurance Hike
- 50K Ultramarathon
- 50 Mile Ultramarathon
- 50 Mile 5-person Relay
The 20 Mile and 50K courses largely follow the blue-blazed Glacier Ridge / North Country Trail between Moraine State Park and the Jennings Environmental Education Center near Slippery Rock, PA. The Glacier Ridge Trail is the local name for this portion of the North Country Trail.
Race logistics include packet pick-up at McDanel's Boat Launch pavilion #7 the day before the race; runners who collect their packet then do not need to check in on race day. Crews are permitted for individual 50K and 50 Mile runners only. Crews may meet runners at established aid stations (Upper 528, Jennings, North Country Club Road) and may render assistance within 100 yards of those aid stations. Crews must use posted parking and speed limits and are responsible for their own food and drinks. Parking is generally available at Jennings and North Country Club Road; parking near Upper 528 is limited.
All finishers receive a finisher medallion. Trophies are awarded to first place male and female finishers in each distance. Race clothing varies by distance, with long-sleeved technical shirts for 50-mile and 50K finishers and short-sleeved technical shirts for 20 Mile and relay participants. Registration closes Thu, May 7. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
