The event is a cross country race and walk set on the trails of North Park near Pittsburgh. Courses use park trails and include sections on the Rachel Carson Trail. The timing places the event at the beginning of fall foliage in Western Pennsylvania. This edition is the 19th year of the event and it benefits an orphanage in the Philippines.

The race starts and ends at the North Harmar Pavilion. Awards include handmade bamboo medals. A folk dancing performance is scheduled at the end of the event.

There is no race participant parking at the Harmar Pavilion. Participants should use the North Park swimming pool parking area and walk a short distance of about 0.10 to 0.25 mile to reach the Harmar Pavilion.
