Gatliff Marathon
Edenbridge, United Kingdom • 17 Oct 2026
Event Overview
The Gatliff Marathon is an annual challenge event. Participants can walk, jog, or run distances of 25 km or 50 km. The route is mostly on footpaths and tracks in the Kent, Surrey, and Sussex countryside. The objective is to complete the chosen distance in under 10 hours.
The Route & Checkpoints
The route changes each year. A detailed written route description, including turn-by-turn instructions, grid references, What3words locations, and magnetic bearings, is provided at the start. A GPX file for each route is also supplied. There are five checkpoints on the 50 km route and two on the 25 km route. Participants must have a checkpoint card punched at each one. Food and drink are available at all checkpoints.
Start and Finish
The event starts and finishes at the Edenbridge Cricket Club in Kent. Participants can begin their challenge anytime between 7:00 am and 10:30 am. The clock starts when a participant's checkpoint card is scanned at the start desk. Hot food, tea, coffee, and showering facilities are available at the finish, included in the entry fee. Certificates are awarded to those who complete their full distance on foot with all checkpoints validated.
Entry and Logistics
Entry fees in advance are £23 for the 50 km and £21 for the 25 km. On-the-day entry costs an extra £2. All food and drink provided by the organisers is included in the fee. Parking is not available at the Cricket Club; paid parking is available nearby, with free alternatives at Market Yard Car Park and Edenbridge Town Railway Station. A bag drop room is available at participants' own risk. Dogs are allowed on the route, one per person, but are not permitted inside checkpoints or the cricket club.
