Event Overview

The Flatlander Trail Run takes place in the interior of Northwest Glendale, Arizona, centered around the base of Arrowhead Mountain. This event is designed as a fixed-time race where participants complete as many laps as possible within a set duration. The environment features a desert landscape with groomed trails.

Course Details

The race is held on a 2 km (approximately 1.2 miles) loop, which runners follow in a counter-clockwise direction. The course consists of single and double track trails. The terrain is primarily flat with approximately 25 feet of elevation gain and loss per mile. While the trails are well-groomed, some areas may exhibit soil erosion from rainfall. The course is marked with orange ribbons, and participants are instructed to keep the markers to their left to remain on the correct path.

Participation Options

The event offers two fixed-time categories:

  • 3 hours
  • 6 hours

Final rankings are determined by the number of completed loops. Only laps finished before the respective time cutoff are counted toward the total.

Support and Logistics

A central hub serves as the start line, finish line, and aid station. This station provides water, electrolytes, gels, fruit, and snacks. The event is cupless, requiring participants to bring their own hydration containers. An area adjacent to the aid station is available for participants and crew members to set up personal gear such as chairs and coolers.
