Event overview
The Flagstaff Crest is an approximately 39-mile point-to-point trail race in Flagstaff, Arizona. The course uses sections of the Flagstaff Urban Trail System (FUTS), the Flagstaff Loop Trail, and the Arizona Trail, linking urban trails with high-country single-track and forest roads. It is part of the Cocodona event week.
The route runs at high elevation, with reported elevations roughly between 6,633 and 7,491 feet. Estimated total elevation gain is on the order of 3,000 to 4,000 feet depending on the year. Surface distribution is mainly single-track (about 69%), with double-track (about 18%) and pavement (about 13%).
Course and logistics
The official start location is Fort Tuthill County Park in Flagstaff and the finish is at Heritage Square in downtown Flagstaff. The race lists a 27-hour time limit. There are four aid stations on course; aid stations provide water, an electrolyte drink, a range of snacks, and vegan options. The event operates cupless for cold drinks, so runners must carry their own refillable container.
Runners must carry a GPS-enabled device with the course file downloaded. The course is marked with orange ribbons with black polka dots and additional wrong-way flagging.
