The VUE in the Red Rocks of Sedona
The VUE, also known as the Vortex Ultra Experience, takes place in the red rock landscape of Sedona, Arizona. Held during Earth Day weekend, the event utilizes the single track trails, slick rock plateaus, and red rock spires of Sedona's Westside. The races are conducted under permit by the Coconino National Forest and emphasize sustainable tourism through Leave No Trace principles.
Participants can choose from five different trail distances:
- 50 Miles
- 34 Miles
- 21 Miles
- 12 Miles
- 4 Miles
The event schedule includes activities across multiple days. A community beer run is held on Thursday, followed by bib pickup and a shake-out run on Friday. The Friday program features an opening ceremony with a "Moment of Intention" at a slick rock location. On Saturday, the races take place followed by a post-race vendor village where participants can gather in a social setting.
All registered runners receive a commemorative medal or a technical shirt. Finishers of the 34 Mile and 50 Mile distances receive a commemorative belt buckle. The event also supports Arielle's Light, a nonprofit organization focused on mental health awareness and access to therapy for youth and young adults.
The race location is approximately 5.3 miles from the partner hotel in Sedona. Alternative lodging and camping options are available in the nearby area of Cottonwood and at various regional RV parks and dispersed camping locations in the national forest.
