Five Trig Points

Delph, United Kingdom • 9 May 2026

Event details

Five Trig Points is scheduled for Saturday 9 May 2026 at the Castleshaw Centre, Waterworks Road, Delph OL3 5LZ. The course covers approximately 18–19 miles with about 3,000 ft of ascent. Entry cost is to be confirmed. The event is run under UK Athletics rules and is licensed with the Trail Running Association and the Fell Runners Association. There are three manned checkpoints on the course that provide snacks and drinks, and free soup and hot drinks are available at the finish.

Route, navigation and requirements

The route follows footpaths and trails, including sections of the Pennine Way, and visits five local trig points around Delph, Saddleworth. The 2026 route follows the same line as the previous year and is run in the reverse, anticlockwise, direction compared with earlier editions. The course is not marked; participants must navigate themselves and visit checkpoints in the correct ascending order (1 to 9). The supplied route is a recommended line, but competitors may choose their own way provided they stay on public rights of way, paths, tracks or roads. Full kit is required, including waterproofs, map and compass, hat and gloves, spare clothing and food. An early-start option is available for walkers and for participants who expect to need extra time. Volunteers may marshal and receive race credit.
