Five Trig Points

The Five Trig Points is a trail and fell running event held on Saturday, 9th May 2026. It starts and finishes at the Castleshaw Centre in Delph, Saddleworth.

The course is approximately 19 miles (18 miles ish) long with 3000 feet of ascent. It follows footpaths and trails, including sections of the Pennine Way, and visits five local trig points. For the 2026 edition, the route will be run in an anticlockwise direction, reversing the traditional direction.

The event is self-navigated; the route is not marked. Participants must find their own way between nine checkpoints, which must be visited in the correct ascending order (1 to 9). While a recommended route is provided, runners can choose their own path as long as they use public rights of way.

There are three manned checkpoints on the route offering snacks and drinks. Soup and hot drinks are provided at the finish.

There are two start times: runners begin at 10:00, while walkers and any runners who feel they may not meet the cut-off times must start at 9:00.

Full mandatory kit is required, including full waterproofs, a map and compass, hat, gloves, spare clothing, and food. The event is held under UK Athletics rules and is licensed by both the Trail Running Association and the Fell Running Association. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
