Fire Tower Races

The Fire Tower Trail Half Marathon and 10k Race are scheduled for June 7, 2026 at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation in Cross River, NY. Both courses pass by the summit where the historic fire tower is being reconstructed by the county parks department.

The half marathon circumnavigates park trails and visits three named overlooks and several rock features highlighted on the trail map. The 10k is shorter and also reaches the top of the park. Rock features on the Rock Trail include Raven Rocks, Castle Rock, Spy Rock, Bear Rock, Dancing Rock, and Indian Rock Shelter.

Distances:

  • 13.1 Miles Fire Tower Trail Half Marathon
  • 10K Fire Tower 10k Trail Race

Registration opens March 30, 2026 and closes May 1, 2026. Registration fees are listed as $70 for the half marathon and $45 for the 10k.

The event raises funds for Friends of the Fire Tower, a group that is part of the Westchester Parks Foundation, a 501c3 non profit. Fundraising proceeds will support projects to enhance public accessibility to the tower and to provide educational resources such as signage, canopy viewscape mapping signage, and benches at the tower base. Course maps and additional race details are available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
