Event

Fierce Dragon (H9) is a multi-day trail event held at Vogel State Park near Blairsville, GA from January 13 to January 18, 2026. The event is organized around a section of the Duncan Ridge and uses Vogel and Skeenah Gap as principal points on the course. Parking at Vogel State Park is subject to a daily fee or an annual park pass.

The 200 Miler involves multiple traverses of the main ridge line between Vogel State Park and Skeenah Gap, with outbound and inbound legs on different routes. Only full Vogel-to-Skeenah-to-Vogel laps count. The 100 Miler and 100K run on portions of the same ridge traverse. The 40 Miler is one full lap of the ridge. The 40K is an out-and-back to Mulky Gap. The Coosa Challenge follows both sides of the Coosa Mountain.

Logistics and rules

Races have set time limits and cutoff points; the 200 Miler requires a minimum of one lap per 24 hours and a final maximum time. Support points include Vogel State Park, Fire Pit, Mulky Gap, Skeenah Gap, and occasional Dragon Locker locations. Crew access is allowed with limits: one vehicle per runner, placards required for some aid locations, and vehicle inspections with restrictions on large or low-clearance vehicles. Trail races in Helen, GA with Marathon, Half Marathon and a 4 miler on trails that start and finish beside the Chattahoochee River. Evening and morning packet pickup, parking for about 150 cars and overflow across the river.
