The Fat Ass Trail Run takes place on November 16, 2025, at Batawa Ski Hill in Batawa, Ontario. The event began in 2003 with 23 participants and has grown since; current registration shows 620 participants. The event offers multiple distances and start times throughout the day. Registration is non-refundable; transfers between individuals are allowed until November 7 at the registrants' expense. Race shirts and other Dirty Soles merchandise are available for purchase; one distance includes exclusive swag in the entry.

Distances, course and logistics

  • 50 km : five laps of the north loop (about 10 km per lap)
  • Bad Ass 6 Hour : timed event around the 7.5 km loop
  • 24.5 km : south, north, then south loops
  • 16.5 km : south then north loop
  • 10 km : north loop only
  • 7.5 km : south loop
  • 5 km : south loop (reduced from 5.5 km for 2025)
  • Big Bum Kids' 1 km : children’s race

The course includes rocks, roots, wide trails, single track, wooden bridges, creek crossings, hills and meadows, with variable conditions such as snow or mud possible. There are three aid stations stocked with water, Tailwind, and snacks. First aid coverage is provided by a medical service provider. Porta potties are located at the start/finish area. Parking is available at Batawa Ski Hill with overflow at the Batawa Community Centre.
