About the race
The First Hour is the opening race in a Friday night trail series called the Happy Hour Series. It takes place at Goodrich Loomis Conservation Area in Brighton, ON. The course length varies with trail conditions and is roughly 6-8 km.
The trail features mixed natural terrain. Participants can expect hills, rocks, roots and mossy log bridges. Some sections can be slippery and caution is advised.
There are no aid stations on course. Water will be available at the start and finish area and the event is cupless, so participants are asked to bring their own water bottle. Goodrich Loomis has a porta‑potty near the parking area; there are no other facilities on the course.
Day of registration is offered one hour before the start for $40. Timing is performed manually and there are no placement awards listed. The organizer does not offer refunds, but entries may be deferred to other events in the Happy Hour Series.
Participants who complete all four races in the Happy Hour Series will receive a custom Dirty Soles medal and a prize at The Last Hour, the final race in the series. The organiser also notes unique awards such as top cumulative time and least cumulative time across the series. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
