Dark & Dirty Night Race
The Dark & Dirty Night Race is an evening trail running event located at the Batawa Ski Hill in Batawa, Ontario. This race takes place after sunset to avoid high July temperatures. The course utilizes the local trail network and features terrain containing rocks, roots, stumps, and hills.
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- 7 km
- 14 km
- 21 km
Due to the nocturnal nature of the event, all runners are required to use a headlamp, flashlight, or waist lamp. For safety reasons, the use of headphones is not permitted during the race. The course is marked, and aid stations are positioned along the route providing water, Tailwind, watermelon, chips, and freezies. This is a cupless event, so runners must carry their own water bottles.
Bib pick-up begins on-site at 6:30 pm on the evening of the race. Timing is conducted manually, and participants must wear their bibs on their front. All finishers receive a race medal, while custom medals are awarded to the first-place male and female finishers in each distance. Participants who register before June 19th are provided with a race t-shirt. Facilities include a porta potty located at the start and finish line.
