Fast Track Trail Race
The Fast Track Trail Race takes place in George Wyth State Park in Waterloo, Iowa. Now in its fifth year, this event utilizes the park's network of dirt single-track trails, which pass through wooded areas, open prairies, and sections along the lakefront. The terrain consists primarily of smooth dirt surfaces with some grassy segments and gentle rolling hills, avoiding major climbs or overly technical obstacles.
Participants can choose between two race distances:
- 13 km
- 25 km
The 13 km route consists of a single loop of runnable trail. The 25 km distance follows a two-loop format, providing a consistent course layout for the second half of the race.
The event operates with limited on-course support, and runners are encouraged to be self-sufficient. An aid station is located at the start and finish area, which also serves as the transition point for those completing the second loop of the longer distance. This station provides water, electrolytes, and fuel options. At the finish line near the Canfield Shelter, participants have access to food and drinks, including breakfast pizza. The race provides professional photography, handcrafted awards, and specific race merchandise for those registered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
