Course, logistics and teams

The race uses the MacNider cross country course near Hoover Elementary School. The course is a short start followed by three loops of about one mile each, for an approximate total distance of 3.05 miles. The surface is mostly grass and may include areas of mud, dirt, blacktop, roots, and other typical park features. Spikes are recommended but not required; trail shoes are suggested as an alternative.

Limited parking is available at the elementary school. Additional street parking is available on Amherst Drive and Colwyn Drive. There is no parking allowed at the church across the street. There is an optional team competition for each race (no mixed teams). Teams must have at least four members; each team’s top four runners score, and the fifth and sixth runners can affect other teams’ scores. Teams must be finalized by Friday, November 7. The event is part of the CARA Chicago Racing Circuit for 2025 and is sponsored by Xtra Mile Running, Brooks, and the Chicago Area Runners Association.
