Fancy Nonsense 25K/50K
The Fancy Nonsense event is an ultrarunning day offering three distances:
- 50K
- 25K
- 5 Miler
For 2026 the race will be held at Deer Grove Forest Preserve due to trail renovations in the Palos Forest Preserves. The course is based on a 5.5 mile loop that runners repeat until they reach their target distance. The route is mostly single track and is described as entirely runnable. Major intersections will be marked and each runner receives a fully marked course map at packet pickup because there are many unmarked, random trails in the area.
Aid stations are provided along the course: two for 25K runners and five for 50K runners. Stations are stocked with water, soda, snacks, doughnuts, and additional typical ultra fare. Crews can meet their runners at the event location. Pacers are not permitted. The cut off time for both races is 5pm.
The organizer offers a number of free entries reserved for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ athletes as an affirmation of belonging; codes are distributed while funding allows and recipients are not publicly identified. Registration closes on October 10 and registering by September 15 guarantees a race shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
