Fancy Nonsense 25k/50k : Deer Grove Forest Preserve (2026)

The Fancy Nonsense event offers trail running options over multiple looped distances in the Deer Grove Forest Preserve for 2026. Distances offered include:

  • 50K
  • 25K
  • 5 Miler

The course is a 5.5 mile loop that returns to the aid station between laps. It is described as mostly single track and entirely runnable. Major intersections are marked and runners receive a fully marked course map at packet pickup. Organizers note there are many unmarked trails in the area that are not part of the race.

Aid stations are provided along the course, with two stations for the 25K and five for the 50K. Stations are stocked with water, soda, snacks, doughnuts and other items, and organizers will accommodate food allergies or specific requests if notified.

No pacers are allowed. Crews are mentioned in race materials as able to contact runners at designated areas. Registration closes October 10 for the 2026 event.

The race is organized by Curious Ultrarunner's Secret Society, which states a mission to help others fall in love with ultrarunning and a vision to make participants and the world slightly better through laughter and pain. Organizers offer free entries for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ athletes as an affirmation of belonging, accept each entrant’s declared gender at face value, and provide options for non-binary athletes to have pronouns recorded on request.
