Nuclear Fallout

Nuclear Fallout is a winter obstacle-race event held at Nuclear Races in Brentwood, Essex. The course uses permanent farmland and natural features to create muddy running and obstacle sections through woodland, bogs, lakes and rivers. Signature man made obstacles include the Deathslide, the Travelator and a multi‑lane zip wire into water.

The event is chip timed and offers multiple distance options. Amenities listed for each distance include hot washdowns, changing facilities, buoyancy aids for water obstacles, free car parking, free bag drop, free finisher photos and finishers medals. Spectators are welcome and an event village provides music, food, drinks and merchandise near the course.

Race formats and typical features:

  • 6 km: 40+ obstacles, age 14+, chip timed
  • 12 km: 70+ obstacles, age 16+, chip timed
  • 24 km plus: 200+ obstacles, age 17+, multi‑lap endurance option

The 6 km and 12 km options are described as mid distance events with many natural and man made obstacles; the longest option covers multiple laps and is positioned as an advanced endurance challenge. Under 16s must be accompanied by a paying adult. Some events allow skipping obstacles with no competitive penalty, while competitive entries may have compulsory penalty obstacles and stricter rules.
