Falling Leaves 8 Miler and 5K

The Falling Leaves event is a trail run held at Secor Metropark in Berkey, Ohio. The race is designed to showcase the autumn scenery within the local park system. The event is part of the Toledo Roadrunners Club Trail Series and is conducted in partnership with Metroparks Toledo.

Participants can choose from two primary distances:

  • 8 miler (approximately 7.7 miles)
  • 5K (approximately 3.3 miles)

The courses for both distances are flat and non-technical. The 8 miler route starts at the Secor Room and follows the all-purpose trail before connecting to the Moseley Trail. The path leads to Wiregrass Lake for a loop and then returns via the same trail system to the finish line. The 5K consists of a single loop on the long version of the Secor Park all-purpose trail. Walkers are permitted to participate in the 5K event.

Total participation for the event is limited to 250 individuals. All finishers receive a medal upon completion of their race. Awards are presented to the top male and female finishers in the overall, masters, and grand masters categories for both distances. The event organizers emphasize waste reduction by providing reusable cups for use at aid stations.

The race is one of four events in a regional trail series that includes competitions at Howard Marsh Metropark, Providence Dam Metropark, and Oak Openings Metropark. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
