Oak Openings Stampede
Whitehouse, United States • 13 Sep 2026
Event Overview
The Oak Openings Stampede is a trail running event held at Oak Openings Metropark in Whitehouse, Ohio. The event offers two distance options.
Distances
- A 25K run
- A 5K run or walk
Course & Location
The course takes place on wooded trails within Oak Openings Metropark. The route passes through hardwood and pine forests, open prairie, and along stream sides. Both the 25K and 5K start and finish at the Buehner Center, located next to Mallard Lake in the center of the park. Participants should be aware of exposed tree roots and shared trail sections with horses and bicycles. Trail marking for the 5K uses white surveyor flags, while the 25K uses pink flags and follows the park's yellow-blazed trail.
Series & Discounts
This event is one of four races in the Toledo Roadrunners Club Trail Series, presented with Metroparks of Toledo and sponsored by Second Sole. Current Toledo Roadrunners members receive a $5 discount on entry. A $2 discount per race is available for anyone who registers for all four series events at once, with a series giveaway awarded at the end.
Sustainability & Amenities
The event promotes waste reduction by providing each runner with a reusable Hydrapak cup at packet pickup. Aid stations for the 25K offer water, sports drinks, and Honey Stinger gels at approximately five locations along the course. The 5K has one water station. Post-race food is served inside the Buehner Center, where participants may bring their own alcoholic beverages.
Logistics & Registration
Packet pickup is available the day before the race at Second Sole Running Store in Perrysburg, or on race morning at the Buehner Center. Parking at the Buehner Center is limited, with overflow parking available at the Oak Openings lodge a quarter-mile away. Awards are given for overall and age group winners in both distances. A portion of the event's proceeds supports SewHope, a Toledo-based nonprofit aiding communities in northern Guatemala. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
