Fall Running Series : Peninsula, OH

The Fall Running Series is a sequence of five themed trail races held at different locations in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park from late September through October on Tuesday evenings. Events take place at Pine Hollow, Howe Meadow, Kendall Lake, Oak Hill, and Camp Butler. Distances for individual events range between 3 and 5 miles. A surprise twist for each race is kept secret until shortly before the start. Events are held regardless of weather.

Registration information is available for both a series package and single-event entries. The series package fee is $135.00 and individual event fees are $30.00 each. Registration opens February 16, 2026; the package registration closes August 29, 2026, and per-event registration remains open until the date of each event. Participants are advised to bring a flashlight or headlamp if they plan to walk or run at a moderate pace. Special permission has been granted to allow dogs for the final event at Camp Butler. Trail event at Oak Hill Trail Head in Cuyahoga Valley National Park offering 5 and 10 mile run or hike with awards and Dirty Trail Series VIP options.

Two short races at Boettler Park on August 13, 2026 organized by Summit Athletic Running Club. The 2 Mile is open to high school, middle school and open runners; awards and ribbons follow the races.

A 5K cross country race at Penitentiary Glen Reservation in Willoughby on August 18, 2026. The course mixes grass fields and crushed limestone trails, with separate races for male and female competitors and open entry for kids and adults.

Endurance race on one of Cleveland's steepest hills where runners complete as many laps as possible within 1, 3, 6, or 12 hour limits. All registrations and donations go directly to cancer patients through the Nelson Family Foundation.
