The Fairytale of Newquay is a coastal trail running event on Saturday 13 December 2025 in Newquay, TR7 3NB, Great Britain. Organised by Purple Gecko Events, the route runs along the North Coast of Cornwall and finishes at Porth Beach in Newquay. The event is timed using an app service; there will be no chip timing. Entries include canicross options and the event offers an optional donation to support the Newquay Coastguard Association. All runners are issued a GPS tracker with a live link to the route and must pass a kit check at registration in the Mermaid Inn.

Race details and mandatory kit

There are checkpoints on the route stocked with fluids and salt/sugar snacks. Cut-off times apply: 6 hours for the long half, 10 hours for the ultramarathon, and 3 hours for the new short course. All runners receive a Fairy Tale of Newquay medal and there will be awards for top finishers. Runners must carry essential safety kit: a fully charged mobile phone with charger and issued GPS tracker, head torch with spare battery, spare warm clothing in a waterproof bag, a hi-vis top or reflective strips, small first aid kit, nutrition, compass (phone app acceptable), whistle, minimum 800 ml fluid, a survival bag, and emergency cash.
