Fairy Tale Of Newquay 2026

The Fairy Tale of Newquay takes place on 12 December 2026 in Newquay, Cornwall. The event features three coastal routes along the north Cornwall coast between Newquay and Harlyn, with canicross entries accepted on all distances. All entrants register at the Mermaid Inn in Newquay; a kit check is carried out at registration.

Distances:

  • 30 Miles (Ultra Marathon)
  • 15 Miles (Long Half)
  • 8 Miles (The Pisky)

Ultra and Long Half runners start from Porth Beach or Harlyn Bay and are issued a GPS tracker with a live route link and a map. Checkpoints positioned at key points will provide fluids and salt or sugar snacks. The event is timed by ST App Service and will not use chip timing.

Mandatory kit for Ultra and Long Half runners includes a fully charged mobile phone with charger, the issued GPS tracker and map, a headtorch with spare battery, spare warm clothing in a waterproof bag, a hi-vis top or reflective strips, a small first aid kit, nutrition, a compass (phone app acceptable), a whistle and a minimum of 800 ml fluid. Runners on the Pisky must carry fluid and a fully charged mobile phone. Runners receive a Fairy Tale of Newquay medal and there are awards for top finishers. The event supports Newquay Foodbank and the Newquay Coastguard Association with an optional donation at entry. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
