The Fairy Tale of Newquay is a coastal running event organised by Purple Gecko Events on 13 December 2025 in Newquay, Cornwall. The course runs along the north coast and finishes at Porth Beach. Canicross entries are available. All finishers receive a medal and there are awards for top finishers. The event supports the Newquay Coastguard Association with an optional donation.

Route, safety and logistics

All runners register at the Mermaid Inn in Newquay. Ultramarathon runners start on Porth Beach, long half runners start at Harlyn Bay and are bused from Newquay, and The Pisky is an out-and-back to Mawgan Porth. Long half and ultramarathon runners are issued a GPS tracker with a live link and a map at registration. A kit check is carried out at registration.

There are checkpoints at key points on the route stocked with fluids and salt/sugar snacks. Mandatory kit for long half and ultramarathon includes a charged phone and charger or battery pack, the issued tracker and map, headtorch with spare battery, spare warm waterproof clothing, hi-vis or reflective item, small first aid kit, nutrition, compass (phone app acceptable), whistle, minimum 800 ml fluid, survival bag, and emergency cash. Run under fading light at Tehidy Country Park on 17 January 2026 with 2.5 km, 5 km and 10 km distances for all abilities. All finishers get a Twilight Run medal and personalised bibs, plus free photos and a friendly canicross welcome.
