The Fairytale of Newquay

The Fairytale of Newquay is a festive coastal, timed trail event held on Saturday 12th December 2026 along the north coast of Cornwall with a finish at Porth Beach, Newquay. It is a self-navigation coast path run with themed checkpoints and optional festive dress.

Distances offered

  • Pisky - 8 miles out and back from Porth Beach to Mawgan Porth.
  • Long Half - 15 miles point to point, starting near Harlyn Bay and finishing at Porth Beach.
  • Ultramarathon - 30 miles coastal route finishing at Porth Beach.

Runners register at the Mermaid Inn. Long Half participants are transported to the start by bus; buses leave at a set time and will not wait. Canicross entries are welcome. Runners on the Long Half and Ultramarathon will be issued a GPS tracker with a live link and will have a kit check before the race.

There are checkpoint provisions along the routes and a water point at the Pisky turnaround. Checkpoints are stocked with fluid and salt or sugar snacks. Required kit is checked and must be carried individually. Key items include a charged mobile and battery pack, issued GPS tracker, head torch, spare warm clothing in a waterproof bag, hi vis or reflective items, small first aid kit, navigation aid or app, waterproof jacket, a proper survival bag, whistle, minimum 800 ml fluid, nutrition, collapsible cup, emergency cash, and next of kin details in a waterproof bag. Missing required kit prevents participation.

Way marked half marathon across Cornwall from Portreath to Devoran Quay that follows historic 1812 transport routes. One checkpoint provides fluids and snacks; entrants must carry fluid and a mobile phone and canicross entries are welcome.

A coastal multi terrain 10 km loop near Menabilly and Fowey on 27 May 2026. The marshalled course includes steep climbs, coast path sections and steps, with a share of proceeds supporting St Austell Foodbank.

A 10km trail race in Cardinham Woods on 7 June 2026 supporting charities for emergency service personnel. Open to participants aged 18 and over with trophies, finisher medals and a Tri County Cup firefighter competition.

A multi terrain race of about 10 km from Truro to St Clement and Malpas, featuring road, trail, track, hills and mud. It is the final race in the Cornish multi terrain series and includes individual and club prizes plus a keepsake.
