Euchre Bar Massacre

Euchre Bar Massacre is a fatass style trail event near Foresthill, CA that offers roughly two distances:

  • 25 miles
  • 50 miles

Both courses run along the North Fork of the American River and start and finish at the Shirttail Creek Campground. Portions of the routes are off trail and require route finding and bushwhacking. The organizer will post the map about a week before the event. There is one designated location for drop bags and crew that participants will pass twice.

Elevation gain is substantial and is given as approximate totals: about 10,000 feet of climbing for the 25 mile course and about 20,000 feet for the 50 mile course. Distances are approximate and may refer to nautical miles. Entry is free but field size is intentionally limited to a combined total of 50 participants. For fairness, entrants are expected to wait at the finish until at least one other runner arrives. A group campsite is available for Friday and Saturday nights.

Previous finish times are reported as roughly 14 hours for the 25 and 25 hours for the 50, indicating prolonged effort on these routes. The event includes named features and approaches such as Euchre Bar, Pioneer Mine, Ebeneezer's highway, Green Valley, Mumford Bar, and Italian Bar.
