The Good Dog-Dirty Dog 5K and 10K Trail Runs

The Good Dog-Dirty Dog Trail Runs take place at Granite Beach in Folsom Lake State Recreation Area on Sunday, August 23, 2026. The event offers separate courses for runners with or without dogs and provides finisher medals for all runners and a race bandana for each dog.

The courses use wide shaded paths with some pavement and single track trails under old oak trees. Aid stations are placed at the halfway point of each course, at mile 1.5, and provide cold water, an electrolyte beverage, CLIF Shot energy gels for athletes, and water for dogs. Listening devices such as MP3 players and headphones are not allowed; participants must pay attention when crossing roads and while on the trails with dogs.

Packet pickup occurs on race morning at the race site. Entry fees vary by distance and whether a dog runs; an extra dog fee applies. The event divides dogs into four weight categories: Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large, with awards for first through third place in each division. There are also awards for top runners without dogs. The organizer maintains a no refund policy; a race credit minus a processing fee may be issued before race week and transfers between events are allowed under conditions. All events are held rain or shine. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
