Essex Winter Midweek Series 2025/26 No.8 - Basildon

This is a midweek street orienteering event that also forms part of the Essex Winter Midweek Series 2025/26. Series points are awarded based on finishing times adjusted by an age and gender handicap; the best six results from the ten-event series count. An Anytime catch-up option is available on MapRun for some events for two weeks after the event subject to an Anytime time penalty, with bonus points for running on the night. Full results will be emailed via RaceSignUp and published on the SOS and HAVOC websites.

Courses are score format and take place mostly on streets with possible route choices across playing fields and open areas. The event uses MapRun for electronic timing and non-competitive manual scoring may be available.

Controls will mainly be fire hydrants and other street furniture. For fire hydrant controls record the lower number on the H sign; if MapRun does not register a visit, record the required number on the control. Participants should bring a map bag if wet and a pen if not using MapRun.

Participation is at the entrant's own risk. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. High visibility clothing is strongly recommended and a torch or head torch is recommended for running in the dark. The event will be run in accordance with published BOF and Government guidance. Entry fees shown are Seniors £4.00/£5.00 and Juniors £2.00; juniors are under 21 on 31 December. An additional £1 levy applies if not a member of BOF. Start and parking details are to be advised.
