Event details

This is a midweek street orienteering event that forms part of the Essex Winter Midweek Series 2025/26. Points are awarded using an age/gender handicap system, with the best six results from the ten-event series to count. An Anytime catch-up option is available for some events on MapRun for up to two weeks after the event, subject to an Anytime time penalty. Bonus points are given for running on the night compared to Anytime. Full results will be emailed via RaceSignUp and published on the SOS and HAVOC websites. The event will be run in accordance with published BOF and Government guidance, and participants must follow the BOF COVID19 Participant Code of Conduct. Participation is at the entrant’s own risk. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. Parking and start/finish location are to be announced. Currently 15 entries have been recorded.

Courses, entry and safety

Distances available:

  • Long Score - 60 minutes
  • Short Score - 40 minutes

Courses are mostly on street with possible route choices across playing fields and open areas. Controls will mainly be fire hydrants and other street furniture or home made signs; for hydrant signs record the lower number. The event will use MapRun, so participants should have the latest version installed on their phone or Garmin device. If the app does not register a visit, a manual record of the control number is required. Bring appropriate clothing and footwear, a torch or head torch, and a map bag if wet. High visibility clothing is strongly recommended. Entry fees: Senior £4.00–£5.00, Junior £2.00. Juniors are under 21 on 31st December. An additional £1 levy applies if not a BOF member.
