Trail runs nearby

A fully way marked 47 mile trail around Lake Windermere, open to runners and walkers with 24 hours to complete. The route has GPS support, five aid stations, a halfway bag drop, a finishers meal and a locally sourced medal.

Canicross at Dodd Wood on 9 May 2026 with two marked, chip timed loops and views over Bassenthwaite Lake. Choose an 8K route with 370 m ascent or a 5K route with 210 m ascent; two dogs per runner are allowed on wide sections.

A 9 mile (14.5 km) clockwise fell race around Fairfield that starts and finishes at Rydal Hall near Ambleside, with 914 m of ascent. The flagged route uses checkpoints and a cut off at Great Rigg and FRA kit rules apply.

A final Season 4 Lakeland Paws event at Whinlatter offering two marked trail routes to choose from, chip timing, GPX files, and season prize giving. Dogs are allowed with harness rules on the steeper route.
