Eastern States: Blackout - three night camp in Lock Haven, PA

Eastern States: BLACKOUT is a three night camp that focuses on running the night sections of the Eastern States 100 course. It takes place near Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, with basecamp at the rustic Ponderosa Lodge and includes three nights lodging on single beds.

Each night features a different stretch of the ES100 course on real trails. Runs are long, rugged, point to point segments that will likely range from 10 to 20 miles. Terrain includes steep climbs, rocky singletrack, dense forest, creek beds, and long descents that require careful footing and lighting.

The camp is supported but not fully aided. Transportation to and from each night run is provided, along with a light pre-run meal and a hearty breakfast back at the lodge. Between trailheads participants must carry their own water, nutrition, lighting, and layers; long gaps between support are part of the training format. Evenings and mornings at basecamp emphasize recovery through meals, rest, and informal exchange with other runners.

Daytime hours are left open for rest or optional activities such as riding the Pine Creek Rail Trail, paddling, naps, or informal clinics on gear and fueling. Registration for the camp opens on February 8, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
