Dude Peak Derby Trail Race
The event is a 16 Miles trail race in Salt Lake City, Utah, with start and finish at Memory Grove Park. The course follows City Creek Canyon and the Bonneville Shoreline Trail, moves toward Ensign Peak, and uses singletrack and service roads around local radio towers and ridge lines before returning to Memory Grove Park.
Runners climb from the canyon onto the Bonneville Shoreline Trail, detour toward Ensign Peak to tag the summit area, descend to a tower road, then climb toward the radio towers. The route follows a ridgeline for about three miles near Dude Peak to a turnaround point located before the U.S. Forest Service boundary. The course is then retraced with a final descent into City Creek and a return along the City Creek trail to the park.
This is a self supported event. A water cache will be available on the tower road but the course is otherwise unsupported and cupless; runners should carry their own hydration and containers and pack out trash. Restrooms are available at Memory Grove and some at the Ensign Peak Trailhead. Parking guidance requests that participants park along East Capitol Blvd and avoid nearby neighborhood streets. Bib pick up is scheduled the day before at Sugar House Park between 4:00 PM and approximately 7:00 PM, with additional pickup possible on race morning. The park requests the area be cleared by about 2:00 PM, roughly a seven hour total event time.
Prize money is listed for top finishers for men and women. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
