White Pine Solstice Runs
The White Pine Solstice Runs take place in the Oquirrh Mountains near Tooele, Utah, and include mountain trail courses that visit multiple summits and ridgelines. Terrain includes steep canyon roads, single-track trails through aspen and pine, rugged ridgelines, and sections above 9,000 and 10,000 feet.

The 55K route is an out-and-back style ridge and summit course of roughly 34 miles with about 12,500 feet of vertical gain. It visits Butterfield Pass, the Kennecott Mine Overlook, Butterfield Peak East, White Pine Peak, Tooele Peak, Peak 9,712', and Kelsey Peak. Surface breakdown is primarily single-track with dirt roads, off-trail sections, and some double-track. Aid stations are located at Butterfield Pass (early miles) and Settlement Canyon (mile 21.5). The course includes long stretches between aid stations and multiple steep climbs; portions of the route are above 9,000 feet and some above 10,000 feet. Lightning and high-elevation weather variability are noted hazards.
The half marathon climbs to Butterfield Pass, reaches Butterfield Peak East, and returns down White Pine Canyon. It is about 13.9 miles with roughly 3,700 feet of vertical gain. The 8.5 mile course also reaches Butterfield Pass and Butterfield Peak East, then descends White Pine Canyon with about 2,500 feet of gain.
Organizers describe the event as USATF sanctioned. They recommend participants plan for significant elevation change, carry adequate hydration and gear for inclement weather, and note that aid stations are minimalist. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
