Dublin to Belfast : event summary

This event is a continuous non-stop ultramarathon from Dublin to Belfast held on 9 May 2026. The route distance is 170 km and the overall time limit is 30 hours. Entry is restricted to participants aged 18 or over. The organisers have taken over the event from Atlas Running and will follow the same format in terms of distance, route and aid stations for 2026.

Safety and compulsory equipment are specified. All competitors must carry a mobile phone with a power bank, a waterproof jacket, a foil blanket, a head torch, emergency food, visible event numbers and high visibility clothing with reflective strips. Trackers must be attached to the participant’s backpack and will be used to monitor movements; lost or unreturned trackers incur a replacement charge of £130.

Drop bag and support rules are defined. Each competitor may use two small drop bags clearly marked with name and race number; these will be located at approximately 40 miles and 70 miles and can only be reclaimed at the finish. Drop bags should not contain valuables.

Time controls and withdrawal rules are enforced. There are cut off points at 40 miles (10pm), 70 miles (8am) and 100 miles (4pm). Stopping for more than 40 minutes results in automatic retirement. Crews are permitted but must follow event rules on vehicle use, visibility and communications. Competitors will receive a GPX file of the route and a tracker link before the event.
