Carrick Mountain Race
The Carrick Mountain race takes place in County Wicklow on Wednesday, 6th May 2026. It is a similar event to the Carrick Trail but includes the main mountain. The event features two course distances.
Long Course covers a distance of 7.90 km with 450 m of climb. Short Course covers a distance of 4.30 km.
The route for the long course begins with a few hundred meters of fire road to space out the field. It includes the mountain peak and features a lot of fast downhill single track, with predominantly two climbs and two downhills.
Participation requires Level B mandatory kit. This includes a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, a whistle, a charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or equivalent. All runners must bring these items, and random checks may be carried out. The final decision on what must be carried during the race will be made on the day based on conditions.
Parking is at Cooley Farm (Eircode A67VE42). There is a car parking fee, with proceeds going to Wicklow Cancer Support. The site has one entrance/exit. Runners are asked to drive slowly on the premises and to carpool, using a carpool location at Ashford House in Ashford Village.
Registration is online and closes at 12:00 on race day. On the night, runners sign in at a registration table at Cooley Farm. There is no early start; the long course starts at 19:30 and the junior/short course starts at 19:35. The prize giving will be at Ashford House.
Entry costs €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. The entry limit is 250 runners, and entries open on Monday, 4th May 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
