Carrick Mountain

The Carrick Mountain event is a mountain running race held in County Wicklow. The course is situated on the main mountain peak and consists of two primary climbs and two descents. Participants navigate a mix of fire roads at the start to allow the field to space out, followed by sections of fast downhill single-track paths. The route is fully marked for runners.

There are two course options available for participants:

  • 7.9 km Long Course with 450 m of ascent
  • 4.3 km Short Course

The event is part of the Leinster League and is categorized with a moderate difficulty rating due to the terrain and total ascent. All participants are required to carry Level B mandatory kit for safety. This kit must include a waterproof jacket, a hat or buff, gloves, a whistle, a charged mobile phone with emergency numbers saved, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag. Equipment checks may be performed at registration.

Registration takes place at Cooley Farm, where parking is also provided on a private equestrian premises. The organizers require participants to register online in advance. Those who have competed in the current year should bring their assigned race number, as the same number is used throughout the season.
