Carrick Mountain

Carrick Mountain is a mountain running event in County Wicklow with a long and a short course. The long course covers 7.9 km with about 450 m of climb and uses marked routes; GPS devices are allowed. The event is classified as Event Difficulty 6 (Moderate Terrain, 200 m - 500 m ascent, 6 km - 10 km).

The route starts with a few hundred metres of fire road, includes the mountain peak and a lot of fast downhill single track, and features predominantly two climbs and two downhills. The short course follows the main route to the turn point and returns, with a distance under 5 km.

Mandatory Level B kit must be brought to the race and may be checked; it includes a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, a charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag or equivalent. The kit to be carried during the race will be finalised on the day and advised at registration. Failure to have required items may lead to denial of entry or disqualification.

Parking is at Cooley Farm (Eircode A67VE42) with a single entrance and exit; parking fees will be donated to Wicklow Cancer Support. Registration takes place at Cooley Farm at the Stables and requires online registration; registration closes at 12:00 on race day. Entry is limited to 250. Entry fees are €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. The event is part of the Leinster League. Prizegiving is at Ashford House. A fully marked mountain run on Bray Head in County Wicklow with a 7.66 km main route (342 m climb) and a 4.00 km junior course; varied terrain, mandatory Level B kit, GPS allowed, entry limited to 250.

Tibradden in County Dublin on 29 April 2026 features fully marked mountain running routes of 9.90 km and 4.50 km with 365 m climb on the main course. Level B mandatory kit is required and GPS is not allowed.
