Drone Valley Trail Half Marathon
The Drone Valley Trail Half Marathon is a 13.1 miles trail race through the Derbyshire countryside, starting and finishing at Drone Valley Brewery in Unstone. The route combines forest paths, fields, bridleways, minor roads and riverside trails and includes roughly 1,700 feet of elevation with a mix of climbs and runnable sections.
The course is predominantly trail with several busy road crossings; the most hazardous crossings will have marshals. There is one aid station halfway with light refreshments; otherwise the route is largely unsupported and self navigated. Runners receive a GPX file and written race instructions; provisional files may change and final copies will be emailed to entrants within two weeks of the event.
The event is held under UK Athletics rules. UKA affiliated runners receive a discount. Entry prices are published as early bird and standard rates. Minimum age is 18 years. No dogs are permitted. Refunds are only given if the event is cancelled. There will be a mass start for all runners on race day. Registration takes place at the brewery on race day and all runners must sign in and collect a race number to be worn visibly on the front during the race.
Included for finishers are a finisher medal and a voucher for a free pint or non alcoholic option redeemable at the brewery on race day. First aid cover is provided at key points including start and finish, the halfway aid station and on the course. There is no parking at the brewery; parking is available in a layby a few hundred metres up the road.
Mandatory kit includes minimum 1 litre water capacity, a waterproof jacket, warm layers, an emergency blanket, a whistle, emergency snacks and a charged mobile phone with what3words downloaded. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
