Down Syndrome Association of Brazos Valley Run "With A Little Extra"
Bryan, United States • 7 Nov 2026
7th Annual DSABV 5K Run
The Down Syndrome Association of Brazos Valley organizes the seventh edition of the "Run With A Little Extra" in Bryan, Texas. This community event is designed for runners and walkers to support individuals with Down syndrome and other special needs. The association, founded in 2002, focuses on educational programs, social activities, and community events to promote independence and productivity for its members.
Participants will navigate a modified course distance:
- 3.21 Miles
While traditional 5K races cover 3.1 miles, this event adds an optional extra 0.11 miles. This specific distance of 3.21 miles is chosen to represent the third copy of the 21st chromosome, which is the genetic characteristic of Down syndrome.
Registration for the event includes a chip-timed race bib to record finish times. Participants who register by the mid-October deadline are guaranteed an event t-shirt; those registering after this date are not included in the t-shirt order due to production timelines. Race packets, containing the bib and shirt, are available for pickup at the DSABV office on the day preceding the race, or at a check-in table on the morning of the event. The race takes place at North Shore Drive. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
