Diablito 50/50

Diablito 50/50 is a trail ultramarathon held at Tickfaw State Park in Springfield, LA. The event offers the following distances:

• 50 Miler
• 50K

The course uses the River Trail, a 5 mile trail loop that runs along the Tickfaw River. Participants should be aware of natural hazards noted on the course, including poisonous snakes and alligators. There are two aid stations: an unmanned halfway point with water, electrolytes, snacks, and ice, and a main aid station at the start/finish with ice, electrolyte water, soda, snacks, and fully cooked food. Both distances have a 14 hour cutoff.

Tickfaw State Park includes over a mile of boardwalks through four ecosystems: a cypress/tupelo swamp, a bottomland hardwood forest, a mixed pine/hardwood forest, and the Tickfaw River. The park’s Nature Center houses an 800-gallon aquarium and displays on local animals, history, and culture. Night hiking and wildlife sounds are noted experiences from cabins and porches.

Lodging options at the park include improved and unimproved campsites and cabins or group camp sites; basic cookware and linens are provided in cabins, while group camp visitors may need to bring some items. Event amenities include a T-shirt, headbands, a cooling car seat towel, a finisher medal, custom awards for the top three male and female finishers on each distance, race day food with vegan options, and discounts for military, donors, or first responders with proof within 24 hours.
