Trail Running at Night
The Q50 Races Bleau Moon is a trail running event held at night in Fontainebleau State Park, located in Mandeville, Louisiana. The course consists of a single loop through the natural environment of the park, with the start and finish lines positioned at the Main Pavilion by the water.
Participants can choose from two individual distances:
- 5 miles
- 10 miles
A short, 200-yard children's race is also organized for entertainment, which does not require a fee or registration.
Participant Requirements and Safety
Because the event takes place after dark, specific mandatory gear is required for all runners. Participants must carry a headlight with spare batteries, a whistle, and a water bottle or hydration pack. The course is marked with night tape and glow sticks to assist with navigation. There is a total time limit of 2 hours and 30 minutes for both race distances.
Environmental Policy
The event follows a green policy to minimize waste. No paper cups are provided at the venue. Instead, a water and Gatorade station is available at the start and finish area where runners can refill their own containers. Runners are required to carry out all personal trash to preserve the state park.
Venue Information
Fontainebleau State Park charges a $3.00 per person entry fee, which is not included in the race registration. This fee is waived for seniors aged 62 and older and children under 3. The event includes post-race activities such as live music and an awards ceremony featuring handmade awards. Dogs, pacers, baby strollers, and earphones are not permitted on the course.
