Desert Peak Ultra
Desert Peak Ultra is a trail running event held April 11–12, 2026 near Oracle, Arizona, close to Tucson. Races are offered over mountain terrain that moves from Sonoran desert to alpine forest on Mt Lemmon. The course features smooth singletrack, steep climbs, ridgelines, desert views, and pine-summit sections. The summit area passes through the Summerhaven ski town, where runners find aid and refreshments before descending.
Distances:
- 100K: Summit Mt Lemmon; desert singletrack and alpine sections.
- 50K: Steep climb to the summit, then rugged descents and singletrack.
- Summit Challenge: Run the 100K then the 50K on consecutive days.
The start and finish are at Haycreek Ranch (36019 S Mt Lemmon Rd, Oracle, AZ 85623). Cutoffs are 24 hours for the 100K and 14.5 hours for the 50K. Drop bags are allowed; crew and pacers are permitted for the 100K only. Aid stations are fully stocked with gels, Hyperlyte drink mixes, real food, and water. Medical support is available on call.
Organizers describe the course as suitable for runners attempting a first 50K or 100K and also as a test for experienced ultrarunners. Final course details are pending permit approval and may change.
