Défi Gendarme de fer

Défi Gendarme de fer is a sporting and charity event presented in collaboration with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The 2026 editions take place in Québec on 26 September 2026 and in Montréal on 17 October 2026.

The event combines trail running and obstacles inspired by police training. The fundraising goal for pediatric research is 250 000 CAD. In 2025, the 8th edition raised nearly 230 000 CAD for pediatric research.

Course formats and distances offered:

  • CHILDREN 1 km + obstacles
  • 2.5 km + obstacles
  • 5 km + obstacles
  • 10 km + obstacles
  • ELITE WAVE 10 km + obstacles

There are three participation modes: solo, team, and corporate partner. Personal chip timing is available. Teams of 2 to 10 receive a chip each and the team result is the average time. Categories include solo and team competition for podium places across several distances, including the elite wave.

The elite wave features an isolated start for a smooth race, athlete presentations before the event, and a professional action photo for each elite runner. A 15 week training challenge on Strava runs from 7 July to 19 October with weekly awards for registered participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
