Deer Creek Half Marathon
The Deer Creek Half Marathon starts and finishes at Soldier Hollow Campground Group Pavilion and runs primarily along the Deer Creek Reservoir. The 13.1 mile trail route is mostly packed dirt with some single track and gains about +970 ft in elevation overall. Course surface is listed as 95% dirt trail and 5% dirt single track.
The route reaches the Provo Jordan River Parkway Trail within the first half mile and follows a well made dirt trail for roughly six miles before turning back, offering views of the lake and surrounding mountains. Navigation is supported by pink flags, ribbons, signs, and trail marshals; after the first quarter mile the course is easy to follow. There is no cutoff time.
Aid stations are positioned approximately 4.3 miles apart and provide Tailwind, water, Honey Stinger gels and waffles, fruit, and occasional snacks. Runners receive a race shirt and a locally made finisher medal; overall male and female top three receive custom topographic plaques and age group awards are given for multiple age brackets.
Additional event features include free race photos hosted without watermarks, a post race breakfast supplied by Great Harvest Bread, free parking around the pavilion with the day use fee covered by the event, and a field size cap to limit participant numbers. Late registration and packet pickup windows are listed in the event information. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
