Deer Creek Half Marathon

The Deer Creek Half Marathon starts and finishes at the Deer Creek Dam Trailhead and follows trails along Deer Creek Reservoir. The route runs both directions along the water and includes rolling hills and trail terrain. The course is marked with pink flags, ribbons, signs, and trail marshals.

Event features include a well marked course, locally made finisher and age medals, a quality race shirt, free race photos taken on course and at the finish, live results, and well stocked aid stations. Aid stations typically provide Gatorade, water, Honey Stinger gels and waffles, fruit, and assorted snacks.

Packet pickup is held Friday from 3 pm to 6 pm at Salt Lake Running Company in Sandy; race day pickup begins early on race morning. Free parking is available around the pavilion. A post-race breakfast from Great Harvest Bread includes cinnamon rolls, cookies, pumpkin chocolate chip bread, plus chocolate milk, orange juice, and bananas.

Awards include topographic plaques for overall male and female places one through three and gift cards from Salt Lake Running Company for first-place overall. Age division medals are awarded to the top three men and women in these groups: under 20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over.

Late registration opens June 11 and closes July 10. Average July temperatures for the area are about 84 F high and 57 F low. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
