Death by 5k Memphis

Death by 5k is a 24 hour challenge that requires participants to complete ten separate 5 km efforts that begin every 2.5 hours. Entrants must be present at the start of each 5 km and must finish each segment before the next segment begins. The format involves running in daylight and in the dark, so personal illumination such as headlamps or hand lights is required.

The event starts and finishes at the Tour de Wolf Pavilion at Shelby Farms. The course is routed almost entirely on the Tour de Wolf trail and will be mostly a loop with a short midcourse section that may be run out and back. Trail conditions during the event will determine how much of the course operates as two-way traffic.

Between segments, participants may rest in vehicles in the parking area or set up tents on the adjacent grass. Five hot meals will be served during the event, and additional snacks and drinks will be available throughout. Registered participants receive an event shirt and other race items. Finishers receive a coffin style award. Initial registration is limited to 200 participants; a waitlist will be enabled after that and the field may be expanded if organizers choose to open more spots.
