Death by 5k Memphis

Death by 5k returns for year 6 at the Tour de Wolf Pavilion in Shelby Farms, Memphis. The event is a 24 hour challenge in which participants complete ten 5k segments spaced every 2.5 hours, for a total distance of 50K. Runners must be present at the start of each 5k and must finish each segment before the next segment begins. Night running is part of the format and participants are required to use headlamps, hand lights, or other forms of illumination.

The course is laid out almost entirely on the Tour de Wolf trail and will be mostly a loop with a short midpoint section that may be run out and back. Trail conditions on race weekend will determine how much of the midpoint section is two-way traffic rather than a loop.

Participants may rest between segments in vehicles parked in the lot or by setting up tents on the grass area adjacent to the pavilion; there is space for pop up and camping tents. Five meals including hot food will be served over the course of the event, and additional snack food and drinks will be available throughout. Registered participants receive an event shirt and other race items. Finishers receive a coffin award. Registration is limited initially to 200 participants, after which a waitlist will be enabled and additional spots may be opened. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
