Course and logistics
The course is a single loop of trail that starts near the beach and climbs away from the water. 10K runners complete one loop; half-marathon runners complete two loops, with a short extra lollipop section each loop to reach the total distance. Trails are described as non-technical, cushy singletrack with thick ferns, moss-covered trees, a short set of stairs near the loop start, and several bridges. The high point is near the Nightcrawler Aid Station at about mile 2.25, followed by mostly rolling downhill back toward the finish.
Elevation gain is approximately 800 ft for the 10K and 1,600 ft for the half. Aid stations are placed on the course (10K at about 1.75 miles; half at about 2.3, 6.8, and 9.1 miles). Trails will remain open to other users, including equestrians, pedestrians, and cyclists. All events are cupless - runners must carry a refillable container. Parking requires a Discover Pass; 10K runners will park at Lakota Middle School and be shuttled to the start/finish. Every finisher receives a handmade piece of swag produced using solar power. Participants 24 and under receive a 20% registration discount. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
