Cottontail 6 & 12 Hour at Carkeek Park

The Cottontail event in Seattle, WA offers time-based running options on a clockwise loop course at 950 NW Carkeek Park Rd. The in-person event is scheduled for April 18, 2026 and there is a separate virtual option with a virtual window in April.

Participants choose between:

  • 6 hour option
  • 12 hour option

The main loop is 1.93 miles long with an optional 0.54-mile loop available most of the day. Each full loop has 436' of vertical gain. Course features include steep stairs, rolling trails, singletrack sections, spring flora, and viewpoints over the sound. Leashed dogs are allowed.

Event operations emphasize low environmental impact: no paper products on site and a goal of less than one full bag of trash. Aid stations and prizes come primarily from local businesses; aid will include fuel and refreshments during the event. Race registration fees contribute to Endless Trails, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that funds trail work, education, and advocacy in the Northwest. In-person entry prices start at $50 for the 6 hour and $60 for the 12 hour; virtual entries start at $35. Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. Donations may be made to support trail work. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
