Dartmoor Winter Traverse
Meldon, United Kingdom • 21 Feb 2026
Dartmoor Winter Traverse is a fully supported 50 km route across Dartmoor’s remote moorland, with a 30 km Princetown to Meldon option. Organized by Climb South West, it is open to runners and walkers, and takes place in February, featuring a winter atmosphere with rough, off-road terrain and limited daylight. The course passes Red Lake and the sources of the Erme and Plym rivers, then roams Roos Tor, Tavy Cleave and Chat Tor on the North Moor, before following the old Rattlebrook railway to Meldon. It’s a challenge, not a race, with qualified guides, navigation support, GPS-tracker, generous cut-offs, and coach transport options. Maps, GPX, and handbooks are provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
