Dartmoor Volcano Race
The Dartmoor Volcano Race is the tenth edition of an off road running event held on 12 September 2026 around the southern edge of Dartmoor. The race starts and finishes in the village of Scorriton, TQ11 0JB, and follows a high level route that touches Ryder's Hill, the highest point in southern Dartmoor.
The course is a 10.5 mile route on 100 percent trail, run over rough moorland tracks and trails with almost 650 m of ascent. The route traverses rocky, boggy and sometimes technical terrain and includes an ascent of the Red Lake Volcano, which is visible from a distance.
The course features three river crossings, a Clapper Bridge crossing, two bogs, a long uphill opening section and a long downhill finish. The race is fully marked and marshaled by experienced trail runners. All finishers receive a bespoke Volcano Race medal and event T shirts can be purchased through the SiEntries system for collection on race day. A mandatory kit list applies.
The event is organised with permission from Dartmoor National Park Authority and land owners, licensed by the Trail Running Association and run under UKA rules. Minimum age on race day is 17 years. Entries open 19 September 2025 and close 9 September 2026; entry fees are shown as UKA member £38 and non member £40. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
