Event Details

This is the 10th edition of the Dartmoor Volcano Race. It is a trail running event covering a distance of 10.5 miles (approx. 17 km) with about 650 meters of ascent.

Course Description

The route is a high-level loop over rough Dartmoor terrain. It includes rocky, boggy, and technical ground. The course passes southern Dartmoor's highest point, Ryder's Hill (515m), and features an ascent of the Red Lake Volcano. Specific course features include three river crossings, one clapper bridge crossing, two bogs, a long uphill start, and a long downhill finish. The route is fully marked and marshaled.

Location and Logistics

The race starts and finishes in the village of Scorriton, on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. All finishers receive a bespoke medal. Event t-shirts can be purchased in advance for collection on the day.

Requirements and Rules

Participants must be at least 17 years old on the day of the race. A mandatory kit list is in effect. The race is run under UKA rules, licensed by the Trail Running Association, and held with permission from Dartmoor National Park Authority. Dogs are not allowed on the course.
