Clougha Pike Fell Race - Quernmore
Clougha Pike Fell Race is scheduled for Saturday 20 June 2026 at Quernmore Village Crossroads near Lancaster (postcode LA2 9EG). The senior and under-19 race covers 5 miles / 8 km with approximately 1250 ft / 381 m of climb and reaches the 413 m summit of Clougha Pike.
The route is an out-and-back that begins on pasture, climbs the western flank and follows Clougha Scar over rocky terrain to the summit. The return features a descent through marshy fellside, wooded and twisty lower sections, and finishes with a fast final-field descent. Much of the lower route crosses private farm land and is not available for reccying before the race; there is a public path to the summit from Rigg Lane carpark.
Runners are expected to carry fell-race kit; whether specific kit is required on the day will depend on weather. Suggested kit for new runners includes a waterproof top, waterproof leggings, map, compass and whistle. Dogs are restricted to the showfield and start/finish field because of farming rules. Parents and guardians must supervise children crossing the road before and after the race; the organiser accepts no responsibility for children at road crossings.
Entry for the senior race is listed at £6 with an additional booking charge and a £1 discount for FRA members. A fell-gate cutoff of 30 to 40 minutes will apply; the exact cutoff will be set according to weather conditions. Prizes are awarded to the fastest finishers.
