Format and logistics

The race is a self-navigation trail event. Competitors receive a written route description on the day; there are no course markings, no marshals, and no GPX file provided. It is not a mass start event and participants are timed out and back in at the finish. There are no drink or aid stations on course, and running or walking with dogs is not permitted. Race headquarters is at the Rose & Crown pub, Minnows End, Chelmsford Road, Great Waltham CM3 1AG. A post-race meal is included, with a choice of cottage pie or vegetable lasagne. Trail runs nearby

A 5K self navigational trail run at Nuclear Essex on 14 February supporting the British Heart Foundation. Participants follow a checkpoint route, are asked to wear something red and receive hot chocolate and Jammie Dodgers at the finish.
