Dark Rose is a trail race held on 4 February 2026 in Great Waltham, Essex. The course is approximately 5.5 miles and the minimum age for entrants is 16. Format and logistics

The race is a self-navigation trail event. Competitors receive a written route description on the day; there are no course markings, no marshals, and no GPX file provided. It is not a mass start event and participants are timed out and back in at the finish. There are no drink or aid stations on course, and running or walking with dogs is not permitted. Race headquarters is at the Rose & Crown pub, Minnows End, Chelmsford Road, Great Waltham CM3 1AG. A post-race meal is included, with a choice of cottage pie or vegetable lasagne. Trail runs nearby

A 50km ultra along the River Medway from Rochester to Tonbridge, mostly on marked towpaths and trails and passing three medieval castles. The event includes three aid stations, live timing, bag transfer and a strict nine hour cut off.

Timed 4.2 mile (6.7 km) laps run on the hour at Redbridge Cycling Centre on a 2 km tarmac loop. Competitors must finish each lap within the hour and the last runner standing is declared the winner.

A track event at Wodson Park offering 5k to 50k plus a 6 hour challenge, timed with lap counting on a 400 metre athletics track. Facilities include chip timing, aid stations, free parking and complimentary tea, coffee and cake for runners.

A four-round trail series on footpaths, fields, woods and some roads held across June to September. All four rounds count toward individual championship scores, with timed results, navigational questions, and t-shirts for those who complete..
