Dark Rose is a trail race held on 4 February 2026 in Great Waltham, Essex. The course is approximately 5.5 miles and the minimum age for entrants is 16. Format and logistics
The race is a self-navigation trail event. Competitors receive a written route description on the day; there are no course markings, no marshals, and no GPX file provided. It is not a mass start event and participants are timed out and back in at the finish. There are no drink or aid stations on course, and running or walking with dogs is not permitted. Race headquarters is at the Rose & Crown pub, Minnows End, Chelmsford Road, Great Waltham CM3 1AG. A post-race meal is included, with a choice of cottage pie or vegetable lasagne. Results will be posted on the organiser’s website.
Entry and fees
