Dark Orchan is a new AS-category night-time fell race held on 18 November 2025. The event is licensed and supported by the Fell Runners Association. The meeting point for registration and prizegiving is the Staff of Life Inn, 550 Burnley Road, Todmorden, OL14 8JF.
Entries open 3 October 2025 and close 17 November 2025. The minimum age is 18 on the event date. Entry fees are £6.00 for FRA members and £7.00 for non-members. The event has an entry cap of 50 places and there were 15 participants entered at the time shown.
Course and kit
The course is 5.4 km with 280 m of ascent. A printable race map is available and a limited number of paper maps will be sold at registration for £1. The race takes place at night and participants should be prepared for cold conditions, including snow and ice.
A strict kit list will be enforced. Required items include the full FRA mandatory minimum kit: a map, a suitable compass (not a button/toy compass), whistle, waterproof top with integral hood and taped seams, waterproof bottoms with taped seams, emergency food, gloves and hat.
