Cutlass Challenge Last Person Standing
The event uses a Last Person Standing format on a repeated 4 mile loop at Erwin Park. Participants run the loop every hour; runners who return and start the next loop continue until only one runner remains. Entry fee is $45 plus a $1 ante for each loop started; the ante for each loop is added to a growing pot awarded to the final remaining runner.
The Cutlass section of Erwin Park is described as the flattest and fastest portion of the park, with about 20 feet of elevation gain per loop. A whiteboard at the start will be used for runner check-in and to log each completed loop.
On-site provisions include water, pickle juice, ice, and some snacks. Runners are responsible for their own fuel and nutrition. Participants may set up chairs, coolers, and canopies between loops; sharing canopies is noted as common practice. Restrooms are located at Pecan Grove Pavilion down the hill from the start and there are no porta-pots at the start line. A map indicates parking and setup locations at the Airfield.
A small number of free entries to an October trail run will be given away, and two twenty five dollar gift cards will be awarded to the top male and top female finishers. Proceeds benefit The Great Root Movement 501(c)(3) nonprofit, which supports people experiencing grief through child loss, domestic violence, and PTSD.
