Cutlass Challenge Last Person Standing

Cutlass Challenge Last Person Standing is a trail event held at Erwin Park in McKinney, Texas (4300 County Rd 1006). The event uses a repeating loop format: competitors run a 4-mile loop every hour on the hour and continue as long as they choose. The last participant still moving at the end of the event is the winner.

Entry fee is $45 and there is a $1 ante added for each loop a runner starts; the ante amounts build an overall pot that the final competitor takes. Registration opens March 17, 2026 and closes April 24, 2026. The course is on the Cutlass section of Erwin Park and gains about 20 feet per loop, making it a relatively flat and fast loop for a trail setting.

A whiteboard at the start will record check-ins and completed laps. Water and ice will be provided on-site; participants are responsible for their own fuel and nutrition. Restrooms are available at Pecan Grove Pavilion, down the hill from the start, and there are no porta-pots at the start line. Participants are encouraged to bring a chair, cooler, and canopy for use between loops. A photographer will be on-site and a few free entries to an October trail run will be given away at the event.

A portion of proceeds supports The Great Root Movement, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that offers scholarships, support groups, and resources for people experiencing grief from child loss, domestic violence, and PTSD, and for first responders.
