The Cross Keys Road & Fell Relay

The Cross Keys Road & Fell Relay is a team event held in Uppermill, starting at the Cross Keys Inn. The relay is specifically designed to combine the disciplines of road and fell running, allowing participants from both backgrounds to compete together in teams of four.

The course is divided into four separate legs, consisting of two road sections and two fell sections:

  • Road leg: Two laps of a hilly circuit covering 3 miles with 650 feet of ascent.
  • Fell leg: A single 2.5 mile lap on an undulating route across Saddleworth Moor with 800 feet of ascent.

The competition includes several entry categories based on gender and age. The Men Open, Women Open, and Mixed categories require participants to be at least 18 years old. Veteran categories are available for those aged 40 and over, while a Junior category is open to runners aged 16 or 17. The Mixed category requires a specific balance of one female and one male runner for both the road and fell legs.

Registration takes place at the Cross Keys Inn on Church Road. The event is organized by Saddleworth Runners and uses an online entry system for team registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
