Crocodile Challenge : Ryton Pools Country Park

The Crocodile Challenge is a six hour loop event held at Ryton Pools Country Park, CV8 3BG. Participants complete repeated circuits of a 3.3 mile out-and-back loop set around pools and open pasture. The surface is mainly crushed stone with a short section of single track and a few looser areas; the route is relatively flat with some small rises.

Runners decide how many laps to complete within the time limit. Common targets include a half marathon at four laps and a marathon at eight laps. A GPX file of the route is available, though the course is clearly marked on the day and may be subject to last minute changes.

Canicross and rucking are both permitted. Canicross has a specific race category and requires short leads and consideration for other participants. Facilities at the venue include parking (charges up to £5), a cafe and a toilet block next to the event headquarters. The park is about 15 minutes south of Coventry and 15 minutes from Junction 16 of the M1; the nearest train stations are Rugby and Coventry.

The event donates 7.5% of entry fees to Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity and has donated a limited number of charity places. Entrants can opt for a medal or a Big Bear Tree Token; each tree token corresponds to a tree planting and contains wildflower seeds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
