Crocodile Challenge
The Crocodile Challenge is a six hour timed event held at Ryton Pools Country Park, CV8 3BG on 21 January 2027. Participants run as many 3.3 mile out and back laps as they wish within the six hour limit. A marathon requires eight laps and a half marathon four laps.
The course is relatively flat with a few small rises, set around pools and open pasture. Underfoot is mainly crushed stone with a short section of single track and some looser areas. The route is marked on race day and a GPX file is available, though the route may be subject to last minute changes.
Canicross is permitted; dogs should be kept on short leads and be considerate of other runners. Canicross entrants start with the main field but may choose to start later if their dog does not cope well in a busy start. Rucking is allowed under the event rules.
Facilities at the park include parking (charges apply, up to £5 depending on length of stay), a cafe and a toilet block next to the event headquarters. The venue is about 15 minutes south of Coventry and close to Junction 16 of the M1; the nearest train stations are Rugby and Coventry.
The organiser donates 7.5% of entry fees for this event to Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity. Entry fees follow a tiered structure with different prices before and after 21 December 2026 and an additional charge for unaffiliated entrants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
