Lakeland Trails in Coniston

The event is based at Coniston Sports and Social Club and follows well marked, marshalled footpaths and bridleways around Coniston Water, the Coppermines Valley and the Old Man area. The route passes panoramic views of Coniston Water and nearby peaks including Swirl How, Wetherlam and Dow Crags.

Distances offered:

  • 10 km
  • 16 km

Courses are mainly hard packed trails with occasional muddy sections. Organisers note one short section on the 16 km routes that is difficult to run and may require runners to slow to a walk. Marshals and radio communications provide on-course support and Advanced Life Support medics will be in attendance.

Water is available at stations on course but runners should arrive self-sufficient or bring a reusable cup because cups are not supplied at water points. The 10 km event has a 2 hour time limit and requires a minimum age of 16. The 16 km events require a minimum age of 18; the Challenge has a 3.5 hour limit and the Race has a 2 hour limit. Entry fees are shown as £34 with an Under 25 price of £15.

Registration is on race day at the main marquee and race numbers must be collected at least 45 minutes before the allocated start time. Race numbers must be attached horizontally for the timing chip. In ear headphones are not permitted; bone conduction headphones are allowed. Dogs are not permitted on the running courses.

The venue includes an event village with food and drink stalls, live music, race commentary, a photographer and event merchandise. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
