Lakeland Trails in Coniston

Lakeland Trails in Coniston uses Coniston Sports and Social Club as the event centre and follows well marked, marshalled footpaths and bridleways from the shores of Coniston Water into the Coppermines Valley and beneath the Old Man. The courses take in views of Coniston Water and the surrounding peaks including the Old Man, Swirl How, Wetherlam and Dow Crags.

Courses are mainly hard packed trails with occasional muddy sections; one short section on the 16k is notably technical. There are TWO water stations on the 16k course at 5.4k and 9.5k and ONE on the 10k at 5.4k. All courses are marshalled by volunteers; the event typically requires over 50 marshals and stewards. Advanced Life Support medics provide on site medical cover.

Race numbers must be collected at registration at least 45 minutes before an allocated start time and must be worn horizontally for chip timing. No dogs are allowed on the course. In ear headphones are not permitted; bone conductor headphones are allowed. Competitors are asked to carry their own water or bring a reusable cup for the water stations.

The event village includes live music, race commentary, local food and drink traders, an event merchandise range and professional race photography. Parking is charged at £5 for cars and £6 for vans; cars with four or more occupants park free. Event t-shirts must be ordered in advance by 18 May. Run classic Lake District fell country at the Blake Fell Race on 31 January 2026, a testing 9.5 km course with 429 m of climb around The Leaps. Entries are limited to 120 so book early for this spirited winter challenge.
