Race details

Distances:

  • 26.8 miles (marathon)
  • 16 miles

Both routes are multi-terrain and run around the Berkshire Downs, including sections of the ancient Ridgeway. The course follows tracks, trails and bridleways that can get muddy when wet, plus some short traffic-free road sections. Route maps and elevation profiles are provided by the organisers.

There is a split point at about 9 miles where runners can transfer from the marathon to the 16 mile route. Aid stations are placed approximately every 3 to 4 miles offering drinks and snacks; runners are asked to bring a cup. Timing chips and race numbers are collected on the day. Marshals are positioned at major turns.

The marathon route has about 1,500 ft of ascent and the 16 mile route about 1,050 ft. Finishers receive a hand-thrown mug. Showers, toilets and ample parking are available. A free BBQ and hot drinks will be available during the day. Entry fees are listed as £32.50 in advance or £38 on the day, with an additional levy for unaffiliated runners.
