Colorado Cold Rush Ultra

Colorado Cold Rush Ultra is a winter trail running event in Colorado Springs offering multiple race distances on natural trails. The event uses Bear Creek Regional Park as the primary start and finish location and follows sections of historic High Drive and Gold Camp Road.

Distances available:

  • 50k: Out and back from Bear Creek Regional Park via High Drive and Gold Camp Road.
  • Half Marathon: Out and back over the top of historic High Drive.
  • 10k: Lower elevation sections, 100% dirt trail, slight technical footing.

Course details include measured elevation figures for each distance. The 50k has an elevation gain listed near 5,500 feet and an elevation range from 6,175′ to 9,090′. The Half Marathon shows an elevation gain of about 2,847 feet. The 10k course lists an elevation gain of about 912 feet. Several aid stations are on course and some are crew accessible.

Aid stations are stocked with electrolyte drink mixes and gels and include sweet and salty snacks and fruit. The Cheyenne Canon aid station also offers warm food options. Pack pickup is held at the Colorado Running Company on the Friday before the race and at Bear Creek Regional Park on race day. Registration closes November 18, 2026. Parking is available at Bear Creek Regional Park and crew access is noted for specific aid stations. Falcon 50 at the USAF Academy in Colorado Springs offers trail and road races including a 50 mile ultra. The event is open to DoD ID cardholders and online registration closes April 18.
